Cullinan’s Curious Jan Harmsgat Se Agterplaas

Send to Kindle

Jan Harmsgat Se Agterplaas is a unique and very quirky, café, gift shop and function venue. If you are near Cullinan or passing through the area you should make sure you stop in here for a visit. The garden outside is decorated with a number of statues and creations made from discarded wire, glass and other junk. The two drag queen statues are quite an eye catcher!

When you step inside the venue and the gift shop you will notice that the artist’s creations are everywhere, making this a very interesting place. If you are after a very different gift, random furniture or something splendidly different for you home then this is the place you want to shop for it.

While here why not relax, enjoy a beverage and order a picnic basket. There are a number of wonderful picnic options, some of the favourites being raison bread and pumpkin fritters, salami roll with creamed cheese, pickled tongue with baby tomatoes and green olives, dry wors, biltong devilled eggs, beef fillet kebabs, vetkoek and more. There is also an exciting salad selection to choose from. You may also order a divine cheese platter, coupled with crackers, dried fruits and jams. Make sure you look at the tasty treats you can take home.

The function room is ideal for weddings, birthdays, themed parties and even conferences and you are guaranteed to have your guests talking about your event for years to come. The setting is very rustic, a bit eccentric and will certainly meet and exceed your expectations.

So whether it is a whole day out, a short visit or an event you are there for, you are guaranteed to have a good time, see some bizarre and interesting art and eat some tasty food. If you want to stay for the night, Gastehys JanHarmsgat will be  pleased to accommodate you.

About

Michelle has a huge love for all things aquatic, particularly marine life. Her main passion lies with Great White Sharks, although she is interested in all marine species and their well-being. She volunteers at the Two Oceans Aquarium in her spare time and would spend all her time by the sea or surrounded by nature if possible. After spending 7 years in the United Kingdom, she has returned back home to Cape Town to be nearer to her family and to her ‘favourite place in the world’. She enjoys camping, fishing, watching rugby and going out with her friends and family to try out new restaurants and bars.
