Wine Tasting

Wine Tasting

If you love wine then this is certainly an experience you will enjoy. Under the Influence is a wine community who shares many South Africans’ passion for good wine. They offer you the opportunity to purchase delicious wines from selected producers and take part in interactive wine tastings and mini courses.

I thought it would be a good idea to tell you all about the wine experiences that are happening close to you. Under the Influence and Lexus have collaborated and joined fine wine and luxury vehicles in a wine tasting like no other. Lexus is certainly equipped to offer not only a luxury vehicle, but a lifestyle experience so why not join this one where you will enjoy fine wines and a chauffeur drive ensuring your journey home is a smooth and safe one.

These events begin in April and if you are one of the first 10 to book a particular tasting, you will be offered a Lexus vehicle, including a chauffeur, free of charge. The vehicle will collect both you and two friends and take you to the tasting (you really can feel a bit like a movie star), they will then drop you off at home once the tasting is finished. You will have the option of driving the vehicle to the venue – what a treat!

Wine Tasting

At the tasting you will have the opportunity to taste some superb wines.  But what makes this experience a little different from many wine tastings I have been to is that the Under the Influence team does not focus on one estate. Instead of this they focus on a topic (you can see more details below) and they use different varietals, regions or wine making styles to enhance the topic. Some topics that have come up in previous events are cool versus warm climates. Bordeaux blends in South Africa and how oak influences flavour.

This is a fun experience and both novice and experienced wine lovers will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and wealth of information the team has to offer. You will be encouraged to discuss, explore and savour the fine wines of the evening. This is sometimes a daunting topic, but you will feel at ease in this environment – don’t forget wine bully language is not allowed.

Here are details for the events taking place in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban

Topic: Under the Influence of Italy.
Home to over 2000 varietals we will taste an array of the finest available in South Africa and gain an understanding of just what makes Italian wines so special.
