Uitenhage Street Carnival
If you are planning to be in the Eastern Cape this festive season let me give you some ideas on how to make your holiday extra special. The Uitenhage Street Carnival from Friday 4 to Saturday 5 December is two days of fun. With music, art, culture, street markets and parades, not to forget the fabulous food stalls and fun times to be shared with family and friends.
With loads of free entertainment which includes musicians, dancers and performers with a Street Parade on Saturday including a float procession, what better way to start off your holidays and get you into the Christmas spirit. On Saturday 5 December in Port Elizabeth the Aspen PE City Marathon takes place. This 42.5km run commences at 05h00 at the Lorraine Primary School. If you would like to participate but don’t think you can run the race you are more than welcome to walk the race at your own pace, provided you make the cut off time or you can take part in the 10km race that begins at 10h00. Festival of Lights
If you are looking for a fabulous way to see in the New Year, why not head into Nieu-Bethesda for the New Years Festival of Lights on Thursday 31 December 2009. Come and join in this joyous celebration that crosses cultural and religious barriers run by a truly inspirational group of people. Come and make your own lantern at one of the workshops and then join up with the parade for a magical walk through the streets of Nieu-Bethesda light by the lanterns and starry sky.
