Absolute 80’s Spring Day at Broadacres Barnyard Theatre

Absolute 80's

Absolute 80's

September 1st traditionally marks the beginning of spring (whether the weather plays along is another story entirely) but the Broadacres Barnyard Theatre is definitely playing along with their Absolute 80’s Spring Day R80 Special, including a free welcome drink!  That’s practically giving it away!

What could be better than an evening of 80’s music?  Absolute ‘80’s takes the theme of a school reunion with the school head mistress guiding the audience of their trip down an ‘80’s music memory lane!  What a great ten years that was with music from Boy George to Guns and Rose and the fantastic Eurythmics.  Everything and anything was thrown in the melting pot that was ‘80’s music; good old Depeche Mode and The Bangles!

Along with the diverse music scene came outrageously new technolong; the video and fax machines and believe it or not, the launch of MTV!  Music played an enormous role as theme songs for movies:  who doesn’t know the theme tune for Ghost Busters (Who you gonna call?!) as well as Brat Pack flicks like St Elmos Fire.

South African musicians also contributed greatly to this era of music:  Sipho Hotstix, Brenda Fassie and E-Void can stand up and be counted with hits like ‘Burn Out’, ‘Weekend Special’ and ‘Taxi Man’.

The show aims to be an ‘80’s party and hopes to take you back in time; expect to sing along to songs like ‘Forever Young’ and hop around madly to ‘House of Fun’ by Madness.

Bronwyn Evans is the host and ‘head mistress’ of the evening and is supported by a cast of ten exceptionally talented performers and musicians.  What a fun and unique way to embrace the ‘80’s again and welcome in the spring season!

Don’t forget that you can take your own picnic meal to Barnyard Theatres or alternatively you can order delicious pizzas from Pizza Deli (they will deliver) and if you order and pay before your show date you qualify for a 5% discount.  Not bad at all.

The show ends on September 5th so don’t miss out.
