I ♥ Randburg

I ♥ Randburg

Hi, I’m Judith from Idwala Guest House in Randburg in Gauteng.

Randburg IS BEST KNOWN FOR Cresta Shopping Mall, great concerts at the Coca Cola Dome, shopping and outdoor fun at Brightwater Commons, excellent Johannesburg golf courses and a lot of good restaurants and bars.

GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN AT Northcliff Hill, just 5 min from Idwala. You will enjoy a 360 /degree panoramic view on Johanesburg as background.

THE BEST nature-background PICTURES CAN BE TAKEN AT the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens or at Emmarentia Dam.

OTHER HAPPY SNAPS AT the splash pool at Idwala.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S GOOD, I LIKE TO be outdoors – there are plenty of parks and green in Randburg.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S BAD, I LIKE TO the Johannesburg Planetarium, galleries and museum.

I THINK THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT IS December, BECAUSE everybody else is at the sea, the weather is great, the air is pure, the streets are free.

MY FAVOURITE BREAKFAST SPOT IS (besides Idwala!) – Vovo Telo or Café Nice, Parkhurst.

FOR LUNCH, I SUGGEST (besides Idwala!) – Plaka in Cresta Shopping Centre or Bottega Parkhurst.

I ♥ Randburg

MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IS sorry, there is nothing but Idwala, TRY THE baked red peppers, filled with goats cheese, followed by prawns, and then the strawberry delight to round things up!.

BEST LATE NIGHT SNACK FROM barsnacks at our bar or room service.

MY FAVOURITE market SPOT IS the Bryanston Organic Market with its great food, live music and organic market.

FOR A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN TRY Greenside & Parkurst, just 5-10 min from us.

IF YOU WANT TO MEET LOCALS, GO TO you don’t have to go far – there are locals everywhere.

Randburg’s BEST KEPT SECRET IS how much it has to offer and how central it is.

MY FAVOURITE THING TO DO WITH FRIENDS IS explore spots around us, e.g. Melville Service Station.

FOR SOME LIVE MUSIC, I LIKE TO GO TO the Coca Cola Dome, offering concerts with great international artists or to the Banyard Theatre in Cresta.

TO RELAX AND RESTORE MY SOUL, I LIKE TO go to hear the Johannesburg Philamonic Orchestra (e.g. in the Linder Auditorium), see some art or visit a SPA.

IF YOU’RE FEELING ADVENTUROUS, TRY try the walking tour through town (Piquenique in the sky).

MY FAVOURITE WALK DRIVE IS in anyone of these great spots Emmerentia Dam, Botanical Gardens, Zoo Lake, Delta Park.

MY FAVOURITE african craft SHOP IS Art Africa in Parkview.

MY FAVOURITE bird WATCHING SPOT IS our Garden –it is situated next to a natural heritage protected site with a dam promising lots of birdlife.

IF YOU’RE HERE IN September, JOIN IN THE FUN AT Johannesburg Bubbly Festival.

MY FAVOURITE MUSEUM IS Maropeng. CHECK OUT THE the boat drive.

MY FAVOURITE BUILDING IS Idwalas Main House, FOR ITS heritage value (over 100 years old / historical farmhouse) heritage value (over 100 years old / historical farmhouse).

TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN? A FUN OUTING IS a trip to the skate park at Brightwater Commons, the Johannesburg Zoo, Delta Park Playground, Lifestyle Garden Centre (playgrounds & cafes).

I ♥ Randburg

BEST CHEAP AND CHEERFUL OUTING IS going to the food and crafts markets to stroll and look around.
WHEN MONEY’S NO OBJECT, I LIKE TO try and buy everything I see there.

THE MOST UNUSUAL THING I SEE HERE IS the great mix of cultures, people, languages, art, food, business & nature – it’s all here.

MY FAVOURITE WEEKEND GETAWAY IS to the Cradle of Humankind, Magaliesberg, Pilanesberg, Vaal River, Madikwe.

WHEN I WANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, I give professional training to people without education.

I Love Randburg BECAUSE it is central, vibey, full of business spirit, friendly people and it surprises me every day again.
