Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens

Walter Sisulu Gardens

Hi, I’m Muzi Mohale from Roodepoort in Gauteng. Through my love for travelling and the internet I blog about the travel and tourism industry in South Africa

ROODEPOORT IS BEST KNOWN FOR the discovery of Gold in 1884.

GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN AT Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden.

THE BEST golf PICTURES CAN BE TAKEN at Ruimsig Country Club.

OTHER HAPPY SNAPS AT Poortview.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S GOOD, I LIKE TO visit Hillfox Flea Market.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S BAD, I LIKE TO shop at Clearwater Mall.

I THINK THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT IS Summer because of all the outdoor activities available in the area.

The Cattle Baron

FOR LUNCH, I SUGGEST The Keg in Horizon Village.

MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IS The Cattle Baron. Try the Large Portion of Pork Spare Ribs!

BEST LATE NIGHT SNACK FROM Trumps!

MY FAVOURITE township SPOT IS Shimi’s Pub in Kagiso.

FOR A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN TRY the Silver Star Casino.

IF YOU WANT TO MEET LOCALS, GO TO West Gate Mall.

ROODEPOORT’S BEST KEPT SECRET IS The Kloofendal Nature Reserve.

MY FAVOURITE THING TO DO WITH FRIENDS IS a picnic at Florida Lake.

FOR SOME LIVE MUSIC I like to go to Silver Star Casino.

IF YOU’RE FEELING ADVENTUROUS TRY horse riding!

MY FAVOURITE WALK / HIKE IS in the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden.

MY FAVOURITE outdoor clothing SHOP IS Cape Union Mart in Clearwater Mall.

MY FAVOURITE soccer-WATCHING SPOT IS is Shimi’s Pub in Kagiso.

MY FAVOURITE MUSEUM IS the Roodepoort Museum. Check out the history about the formation of Azapo.

TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN? A FUN OUTING IS Roodekrans Picnic areas in Wilde Amandel Road.

BEST CHEAP AND CHEERFUL OUTING IS Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden.

THE MOST UNUSUAL THING I SEE HERE IS Ontdekkers Street (has large outlets for used cars on sale).

MY FAVOURITE WEEKEND GETAWAY IS the  Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden.

WHEN I WANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY I donate used clothing to local informal settlement dwellers at Matholesville.

A notable event on 30 December 1985 – Winnie Mandela was arrested for having contravened a banning order that prohibited her from being in the magisterial district of Johannesburg and Roodepoort.

I Love ROODEPOORT BECAUSE it is its a small Afrikaans town, now integrating all races!
