I ♥ Sandhurst

Hi, I’m Cheryl from Mustard Seed Guest House in Sandhurst, Sandton.

Sandhurst IS BEST KNOWN FOR its stunning homes and beautiful gardens.

GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN AT The Mandela Statue. This statue of a 21st century icon will tower above you.

THE BEST scenic PICTURES CAN BE TAKEN FROM the top of the Radisson Blu Hotel.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S GOOD, I LIKE TO go for walks through the suburb or lie under a tree in the garden with a book.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S BAD, I LIKE TO visit the Sandton Library or have a coffee at the Book Shop.

I THINK THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT IS in the summer, BECAUSE our outdoor life is so varied.

MY FAVOURITE BREAKFAST SPOT IS the Patisserie in Illovo. Located at 30 Rudd Road they serve a delicious breakfast as well as cakes and other sweet treats.

FOR LUNCH, I SUGGEST Cornuti in Illovo. Open since 1987, this is an Italian bistro that has a stylish ambiance and great food.

MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IS the Butcher Shop and Grill in Sandton. The restaurant is classic and pretentious and has become a South African institution. TRY THE rump.

BEST LATE NIGHT SNACK FROM J B Rivers – the sushi is always superb.

MY FAVOURITE social SPOT IS the Inanda Polo Club.

FOR A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN TRY pub crawling at the many bars and restaurants in the area.

IF YOU WANT TO MEET LOCALS, GO TO Wanderers Sports Club.

Sandhurst’s BEST KEPT SECRET IS that once a month the magnificent gardens are open to the public. There is a nominal entry fee and the proceeds go to charity.

MY FAVOURITE THING TO DO WITH FRIENDS IS to meet for lunch or breakfast.

FOR SOME LIVE MUSIC, I LIKE TO GO TO The Blues Room at the Village Walk in Sandton.

TO RELAX AND RESTORE MY SOUL, I LIKE TO go to the lunch hour music recitals which happen every Friday at The Old Mutual Theatre on the Square in Sandton.

IF YOU’RE FEELING ADVENTUROUS, TRY ballooning from MonteCasino.

MY FAVOURITE HIKE IS in the Magaliesburg. There are many to choose from and this area is the perfect place for hiking.

MY FAVOURITE furniture SHOP IS Galleria in Sandton.

IF YOU’RE HERE IN Easter, JOIN IN THE FUN AT the St Stithians Rugby Festival. A number of school play rugby games during the Festival and its become a firm favourite on the sporing calendar.

MY FAVOURITE GALLERY IS the Everard Read. CHECK OUT THE programme for exhibitors.

MY FAVOURITE BUILDING IS The Michaelangelo, FOR ITS grandeur.

TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN? A FUN OUTING IS the Lion Park or the Cheetah Reserve.

BEST CHEAP AND CHEERFUL OUTING IS picnicking at a trout farm. Pack a basket and away you go!

WHEN MONEY’S NO OBJECT, I LIKE TO go gambling at the MonteCasino.

WHEN I WANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, I help at the local church.

Other: Sandhurst is South Africa’s downtown Manhattan.

I Love Sandhurst Because we are so close to the Sandton CBD and yet in this wonderful leafy suburb with all its old majestic houses.

Mustard Seed Guest House

The Mustard Seed Guest House is a gorgeous and very private Guest House in the heart of Sandton. We are 1,5 kms from the Sandton Convention Centre, ten minutes from Hyde Park, Bryanston and Randburg and thirty minutes from the Oliver Tambo International Airport as well as 30 minutes from Lanseria Airport. A feeling of “downtown Sandton” yet with the quietness and vibe of the country due to the many beautiful trees and quaint gardens. Each room opens onto its own private garden with seating areas for each room where our guests relax after a busy day with a drink or a cup of tea or coffee.
