I ♥ Schoemansville

I ♥ Schoemansville

Hi, I’m Laurette Hanekom from Stirling Manor Boutique Guest House in Schoemansville.

Schoemansville IS BEST KNOWN FOR being the main town of Hartbeespoort.

GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN AT the Snake and Animal Park, because there are many different animals you are likely to see in real life.

THE BEST animal PICTURES CAN BE TAKEN AT Bush Baby Monkey Sanctuary and Ukutula Game Lodge where walking with the lions is a life changing experience.

OTHER HAPPY SNAPS AT the Welwitschia Country Market which is open from Tuesday to Sunday and all public holidays from 09h00 to 17h00.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S GOOD, I LIKE TO go on a cruise on the Hartbeespoort dam with a special picnic basket filled with some chocolates and champagne.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S BAD, I LIKE TO stay indoors at Stirling Manor and enjoy a romantic dinner in front of the fireplace.

I THINK THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT IS September to May BECAUSE the weather is warm and Hartbeespoort has many outdoor activities to offer tourists.

MY FAVOURITE BREAKFAST SPOT IS House of Coffees at Sidiba Plaza.

FOR LUNCH, I SUGGEST a picnic basket at Van Gaalen Kaasmakerij.

MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IS Silver Orange Bistro, TRY THE homemade sorbet trio; three delicious flavours. They serve the best food in Hartbeespoort and the service is excellent.

BEST LATE NIGHT SNACK FROM MacDonald McCafe at Village Mall.

MY FAVOURITE scenic SPOT IS driving over Saartjies Neck at sunset, seeing the beautiful Hartbeespoortdam dressed in orange rays.

FOR A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN TRY Upper Deck at Chameleon Village with live entertainment.

IF YOU WANT TO MEET LOCALS, GO TO Squires Restaurant, across the Snake and Animal Park where most locals hang out on a Saturday afternoon watching rugby.

Schoemansville’s BEST KEPT SECRET IS Stirling Manor Boutique Guest House with its spectacular views over the Hartbeespoortdam, excellent service and good food.

MY FAVOURITE THING TO DO WITH FRIENDS IS to visit Magalies Canopy Tours.

FOR SOME CULTURE I LIKE TO GO TO Lesedi Cultural Village on the R512 from Johannesburg.

TO RELAX AND RESTORE MY SOUL, I LIKE TO go to Mangawanani River Valley for a day of pampering and a truly African experience.

IF YOU’RE FEELING ADVENTUROUS, TRY Bill Harrops Balloon Safari’s.

MY FAVOURITE WALK IS the lion walk at Ukutula Game Lodge.

MY FAVOURITE bird WATCHING SPOT IS the bird sanctuary at Ifafi and Meerhof. This is my favourite spot to watch fish eagles breeding.

IF YOU’RE HERE IN summer, JOIN IN THE FUN AT the Om Die Dam road race.

MY FAVOURITE GALLERY IS Adriaan Boshoff Gallery. CHECK OUT THE different galleries in Scott Street.

MY FAVOURITE BUILDING IS Colonial Arch in Scott Street FOR ITS old structure which was preserved in its original Cape Dutch architecture. When the new wing was added the same Cape Dutch architecture was used. The developer kept the old building for its history, he incorporated the old with the new and today it is a landmark in Scott Street.

TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN? A FUN OUTING IS Bush Baby Monkey Sanctuary.

BEST CHEAP AND CHEERFUL OUTING IS Welwitschia Country Market.

WHEN MONEY’S NO OBJECT, I LIKE TO go on a Balloon Safari with Bill Harrop.

THE MOST UNUSUAL THING I SEE HERE IS that Hartbeespoortdam is a popular setting for international tourism.

MY FAVOURITE WEEKEND GETAWAY IS Mount Grace Spa.

WHEN I WANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, I support the local artists at the Welwitschia Country Market.

I Love Schoemansville Because it is close to the city, but out of this world.
