Surrounded by the majesty of the Magaliesberg mountain range, Hartbeespoort Dam is situated in the North West Province of South Africa. The village of Hartbeespoort is situated along the shores of the well known Hartbeespoort Dam. This spectacular dam is a popular destination for weekend getaways or day trips.

The Harbeespoort Dam was constructed in 1925 and currently boasts a capacity of 205 million cubic metres and its shoreline, when full, is approximately 56km! These awesome characteristics allow for all thrilling watersport adventures to be enjoyed here including parasailing, windsurfing, water and jet skiing and so much more.

Hartbeespoort is situated among undulating hills and panoramic views of the dam as well as the majestic Magaliesberg Mountains can be experienced here. The beauty, tranquility and attractions here entice people from all over to enjoy its spectacular terrains.

Visit Hartbeespoort Dam and explore other attractions in Hartbeespoort that include the aquarium, private zoo, a snake park as well as a cable way. The Hartbeespoort Aquarium is one of the largest in Africa and sure to be an unforgettable experience. Also of interest is the Crocodile Ramble, an arts and crafts route with day visitor and overnight facilities.

    We don’t see any answers to the questions above. This is a wonderful place to vissit but need to also know of a braai / picnic area close to the dam / river? We use to get in to an picnic area close to the river downstream from the dam. Now its owned by the resort. now its very expensive for the day to go down there. We don’t mind paying for entrance but please keep it reasonable aspecialy if we only need a place to sit and enjoy the nature and river, just to relax
