As we enter the Autumn season you may feel it’s time to get fit before winter sets in then look no further as we have some brilliant suggestions of annual events and festivals taking place all over South Africa. If you are just looking for something you can enjoy with friends or if you are looking for family activities for everyone to enjoy then carry on reading.

We have MTB sporting events to participant in or to just be a spectator, arts and music festivals for the many different cultures, an agricultural show, a wedding expo and a kids and baby expo. Don’t forget to turn off all your lights from 18h00 on Saturday 31 March 2012 in celebration and recognition of Earth Hour, you can enjoy the evening with the ambiance created by candle light.

Cape Town Jazz Festival

Cape Town Jazz Festival

A favourite on the music calendar in the Mother City is the Cape Town Jazz Festival on Friday 30 March to Saturday 31 March 2012 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in Cape Town Central. Now in its 13th year and dedicated to developing the local jazz music industry and community. Some of the world’s most renowned jazz musicians will provide you with musical enjoyment. This year Multi Grammy Award winner Lauryn Hill has been confirmed to perform, book your tickets at Computicket today.

Head to Stanford for a weekend in the country. Grab a blanket and pack a picnic on Saturday 31 March 2012 before meeting family and friends in the heart of the town on the Village Green for the Stanford Earth Hour Picnic and enjoy some star gazing in recognition of Earth Hour. The old stone church will begin the count down by ringing it’s bells and when the lights go off the Green will be lit up by the magnificent galaxies, star light and milky ways.

The Karoo town of Oudtshoorn is home for the annual Klein Karoo Arts Festival (KKNK) an Afrikaans arts and culture festival. This year KKNK will have the town buzzing from Saturday 31 March to Saturday 7 April 2012 so hope you have booked well in advance!

If you enjoy Mediterranean tastes and flavours then head out to the Riebeek Valley Medfest from Saturday 31 March to Sunday 1 April 2012 where a selection of restaurants and wineries in Riebeek Kasteel will open their doors in celebration of old Mediterranean cuisine and complimentary customs.
