As we enter the month of March and head towards the height of summer, life has not slowed down, we have a variety of events and activities you can take part in throughout South Africa to keep you entertained throughout the week.

As fashion designers are placing their final touches on this year’s autumn / winter collection, fashionista’s can get excited about upcoming events starting with fashion week in Johannesburg. For the sustainable conscious you can attend the Sustainable Design Showcase.

For an unforgettable experience with a collective of like-minded music and fun lovers, mark those calendars and join us for a mind blowing adventure into the realm of RAMfest and celebrate with some of South African’s top rock talent at the following destinations Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.

For those training for ultra marathons we have a selection of races to help you achieve optimum fitness and one of the country’s most challenging cycle races will be taking place in the Western Cape.

There are activities to enjoy with the whole family including a sandcastle competition or for older children you can visit the Matric Farewell Expo, so call your family and friends and plan to visit some of these amazing destinations so that you can take part in some of the fantastic events on offer this week …

Those interested in sustainability can attend the Sustainable Design Showcase from Wednesday 7 March to Friday 16 March 2012 at the Cape Town City Hall. This is Eco Design Initiative’s second annual event and will give you a better understanding of how South Africa and Scandinavia are merging sustainability with design.

Head to the Porterville Christusfees from Friday 9 March to Sunday 11 March 2012, in Porterville and join in with the community festival that offers top quality Christian music, family activities and many exciting stalls. Elvis Blue and Heinz Winckler are just some of the many artists performing this year.

Trail runners can look forward to the Jan van Riebeeck Mountain Trail / Fun Run & Market Day on Saturday 10 March 2012 held at the sports field of Jan van Riebeeck High School, De Hoop Avenue in Tamboerskloof. Haul out your buckets and spades and head down to Hout Bay beach for the annual Hout Bay Sandcastle Competition on Saturday 10 March 2012. There are fantastic prizes to be won and funds raised go toward making a difference to the lives of children.

RAMfest 2012 has become the highlight on the annual music festival calendar in the Western Cape. This year the festival location is the Cape Town Ostrich Ranch near Philadelphia and held on Sunday 11 March 2012 so come along and enjoy the phenomenal line up.

It is too late to get your entry for this year’s Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour taking place on Sunday 11 March 2012 but the 35 000+ cyclists who are taking part will need your support and encouragement on the day. So come out and support them with cheers at various points along this 109km cycle race that is both challenging and beautiful.

Runners can head to the town of Vryheid this Saturday 10 March 2012 to run in the Vryheid Athletic Club Half Marathon. The race starts at the Cecil Emmett Sports Grounds and the route has a challenging first half and a 500 metre climb to the finish venue!
