Daddy Bloom

If you thought it wasn’t pos­sible to see flowers in full bloom on top of a roof, then think again because the Grand Daddy Hotel has made this pos­sible with the first rooftop garden show in their Airsteam Trailer Park.

The show runs from 8–11 October 2009 and won’t be just another flower show. This flower show is tak­ing the concept to a new level and won’t just be show­ing nat­ural blos­soms. You can expect to see live indi­gen­ous gar­dens that will house a col­lec­tion of cre­at­ive install­a­tions care­fully cre­ated with spir­als of metal, wooly nests and beaded blooms ...

The 12 final­ists are com­pet­ing for a cash prize of R1000 as well as a num­ber of other excit­ing good­ies and so they will ensure that their designs are cre­at­ive and inspir­ing. By vis­it­ing the exhibit you have a chance to influ­ence who will win by vot­ing for your favour­ite design.

The show is open from 11h00 to 18h00 daily and a cash dona­tion to the Daddy Long Legs Group’s Feed Me Daddy Charity can be made on arrival. Delicious cup­cakes and teas will be on sale, so you can feed your tummy and your soul at the same time.

For those of you who don’t know what the Airsteam Trailer Park is, let me give you a quick run­down ... This is a unique concept that sits on the roof of the Grand Daddy Hotel.  Seven impor­ted vin­tage Airstream Trailers were handed over to local artists and design­ers for an ima­gin­at­ive makeover. The res­ult is a col­lec­tion of rooftop suites that plays with the ima­gin­a­tion and the senses.

A num­ber of events are held at this venue and we will keep you up to date with the new and excit­ing events as they take place.
