‘Dick and I’ at Theatre on The Bay

Send to Kindle
'Dick and I'

‘Dick and I’

If you are on the Theatre on the Bay’s mailing list (like I am) then you are in for a treat.  They are currently offering discounted rates (online bookings only) for their production of ‘Dick and I’.

Based very very loosely on Shakespeare’s Tragedy of Richard the Third, Dick and I was first performed by Alan Committie back in 1998 and he now returns to the revised, updated text with additional humorous bits!  Although in the past Dick and I has been a one man show, the hugely talented Jo Galloway (from hits such as Boeing Boeing, CATS and Hairspray) joins Alan in this production as his estranged East European girlfriend Petrie (I’m sure Shakespeare didn’t have that in mind when he penned the Tragedy of Richard the Third).  Petrie is not able to speak English properly so performs the text phonetically!  It already sounds like a barrel of laughs!

‘Dick and I’

It’s a fast and very funny production; not your average Shakespeare but definitely one you will be able to understand!

The week night performances commence at 8pm which gives one ample to time to get to Camps Bay from work and have a light dinner or a drink before the show begins.  If you want to stick close to the theatre book a table at the Act 1 Theatre Café.  The restaurant enjoys views over the beach (perfect for sundowners) and the food is delicious.  If you don’t want to rush your dinner you can arrange to have desert and coffee during the interval or after the show – spoilt for choices!  If you are a season ticket holder you are eligible for a 15% discount on your bill.

Bookings & Rates:
The special price for those on the mailing list (and remember to book online) is just R90 per person for shows on Wednesday September 1st, Thursday September 2nd and Tuesday September 7th at 8pm.  The special also applies on Saturday September 4th.
