I ♥ Gordons Bay

I ♥ Gordons Bay

Hi, I’m Lynn Leclercq from The Blue Marine Self Catering in Gordons Bay in the Cape Helderberg, Western Cape.

Gordons Bay IS BEST KNOWN FOR small friendly village with lovely white beaches and vibey restaurants.

GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN AT Whale Point, and if lucky can spot dolphins all year round and whales in winter.

THE BEST scenic PICTURES CAN BE TAKEN AT at the top of Steenbras dam, enter road as you drive along the coast road.

OTHER HAPPY SNAPS AT Bikini beach (which is Blue Flag status).

WHEN THE WEATHER’S GOOD, I LIKE TO enjoy our main beach.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S BAD, I LIKE TO explore the winelands.

I THINK THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT IS all year round, BECAUSE even the winters are warm and we have the most beautiful sunsets across the False Bay.

MY FAVOURITE BREAKFAST SPOT IS Miquels Al Forno in the village.

FOR LUNCH, I SUGGEST the Tavern in the Gordons Bay harbour, next to the NSRI and Naval Base.

MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IS Berties Mooring at Harbour Island, TRY THE fresh fish – catch of the day.

MY FAVOURITE takeaway SPOT IS Ooskus fish and chips.

FOR A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN TRY The Tavern in Gordons Bay harbour or Berties Mooring at Harbour Island.

IF YOU WANT TO MEET LOCALS, GO TO The Tavern in the Gordons Bay harbour or visit the quaint shops in the village.

Gordons Bay’s BEST KEPT SECRET IS the warm winters, summer sports and friendly village atmosphere.

MY FAVOURITE THING TO DO WITH FRIENDS IS socialise at the restaurants.

FOR SOME LIVE MUSIC, I LIKE TO GO TO Berties Mooring. Enjoy Live band every Friday and Sunday nights really add to a great ambience of the yachts in the mariner.

TO RELAX AND RESTORE MY SOUL, I LIKE TO walk along the pathway leading up to the main beach.

IF YOU’RE FEELING ADVENTUROUS, TRY the hiking trail above the village or book an adventure high speed boat ride from Harbour Island. In summer go on a sunset cruise around the bay.

MY FAVOURITE DRIVE IS Clarence Drive towards Koel Bay for a picnic on the beach, see the caves and watch the surfers.

MY FAVOURITE SHOP IS Shell and Book shop in the village.

MY FAVOURITE whale watching and view point WATCHING SPOT IS Whale Point (Signage Suikerbossie) on the coastal road.

IF YOU’RE HERE IN June, JOIN IN THE FUN of Winter Wonderland. The whole village, is illuminated with fairy lights and events organized.

TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN? A FUN OUTING IS to the local beach, in summer a fairground is erected outside Spur.

BEST CHEAP AND CHEERFUL OUTING IS Trawlers takeaways for it’s relaxed picnic style side walk eating.

WHEN MONEY’S NO OBJECT, I LIKE TO go to Harbour Lights restaurant in the Gordons Bay harbour.

WHEN I WANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, I visit the Animal Welfare with food.
