I ♥ St Helena Bay

I ♥ St Helena Bay

Hi, I’m Charl du Toit from St Helena Bay on the Cape West Coast.

ST HELENA BAY IS BEST KNOWN FOR its boat-fishing (snoek), angling and birdwatching activities.

GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN AT the Shelley Point Lighthouse, beautiful  rocks, shells and birdlife  and no need to make arrangements but go there yourself.

THE BEST full-moon and sunset PICTURES CAN BE TAKEN AT and around St Helena Bay.

OTHER HAPPY SNAPS AT Sandy Point Fish Harbour.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S GOOD, I LIKE TO hike, cycle, fish and braai.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S BAD, I LIKE TO either do my shopping or stay at home, watching the fishingboats moving in and out of the bay, enjoying a good red wine.

I THINK THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT IS March to June, BECAUSE you’ll have the best weather and then from August to September, because of our “veldblom” season.

MY FAVOURITE BREAKFAST SPOT IS Fruit & Veg in Vredenburg.

FOR LUNCH, I SUGGEST Seafood Basket or Spur at the West Coast Mall.

MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IS Beira Mar, TRY whatever is on offer.

BEST LATE NIGHT SNACK FROM the Shelley Point Hotel.

MY FAVOURITE fishing SPOT IS the Chubb.

FOR A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN TRY Emperors @ Velddrif.

IF YOU WANT TO MEET LOCALS, GO TO Soverby Lapa.

St Helena Bay’s BEST KEPT SECRET IS galjoen & crayfish.

MY FAVOURITE THING TO DO WITH FRIENDS IS having a BBQ at home.

FOR SOME LIVE MUSIC, I LIKE TO GO TO Die wingerd or Boesmanland Kombuis.

TO RELAX AND RESTORE MY SOUL, I LIKE TO go birdwatching on the Bergriver, Velddrif.

IF YOU’RE FEELING ADVENTUROUS, TRY horse riding.

MY FAVOURITE WALK OR DRIVE IS along our shoreline.

MY FAVOURITE coffee SHOP IS Café Grace in the West Coast Mall.

IF YOU’RE HERE IN April, JOIN IN THE FUN AT St Helena Bay Arts, Crafts & Food Market.

MY FAVOURITE MUSEUM IS the West Coast Fossil Park. CHECK OUT THE fossils.

MY FAVOURITE BUILDING IS The Mall, FOR ITS shopping facilities.

TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN? A FUN OUTING IS to the West Coast National Park.

BEST CHEAP AND CHEERFUL OUTING IS a swim and stroll at Stompneus.

WHEN MONEY’S NO OBJECT, I LIKE TO visit the casino @ Club Mykonos.

THE MOST UNUSUAL THING I SEE HERE IS the whale activity during February to April.

MY FAVOURITE WEEKEND GETAWAY IS to visit the Muisbosskerm at Lamberts Bay.

I Love St Helena Bay BECAUSE of its tranquillity!
