West Beach IS BEST KNOWN FOR being one of Cape Town's most upmar­ket estate devel­op­ments which was launched dur­ing November 1989.

WHEN THE WEATHER'S GOOD, I LIKE TO to pop down to the beach­front and walk along the prom­en­ade or go for sun­down­ers to look at the beau­ti­ful view.

WHEN THE WEATHER'S BAD, I LIKE TO sit indoors at one of the trendy pubs or cof­fee shops and watch Mother nature.

I THINK THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT IS all year, BECAUSE West Beach sel­dom is as affected by the weather as the rest of Cape Town.

MY FAVOURITE BREAKFAST SPOT IS Mugg & Bean at West Coast Village.
FOR LUNCH, I SUGGEST any­where in Big Bay…ther are lots of options to choose from.

MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IS Café Sophia, TRY THE tap­pas.
BEST LATE NIGHT SNACK FROM Cubana in Blouberg… which is only 5 minutes away from us.

MY FAVOURITE SPOT IS Moyo at Big Bay.
FOR A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN TRY the whole of the Blouberg beach­front because it is filled with pubs, res­taur­ants and music.

IF YOU WANT TO MEET LOCALS, GO TO any of the above-mentioned places.

West Beach’s BEST KEPT SECRET IS that the beach is just over the hill, 3 minutes away.

MY FAVOURITE THING TO DO WITH FRIENDS IS hang out at the Big Bay for break­fast, lunch or din­ner… awe­some vibes.

FOR SOME LIVE MUSIC, I LIKE TO GO TO Blue Peter Hotel on the beach.
TO RELAX AND RESTORE MY SOUL, I LIKE TO go to one of the spas in the area or just simply walk along the beach, listen­ing to the sound of the Atlantic.

IF YOU'RE FEELING ADVENTUROUS, TRY kite surf­ing or wind-sailing at Big Bay.

MY FAVOURITE WALK IS along the beach towards Melkbos, 10 minutes away.

MY FAVOURITE SHOPS ARE the ones at Big Bay.

MY FAVOURITE VIEWING SPOT IS Blouberg beach. The view of Table Mountain is breathtaking.

IF YOU'RE HERE IN sum­mer, JOIN IN THE FUN AT the Kite surf­ing con­tests — they are awesome.

MY FAVOURITE MUSEUM IS Blouberg Hill which is the site of a boer war battle.
MY FAVOURITE BUILDING IS Rochester Guest House, FOR ITS Cape Dutch feel and ambience.

TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN? A FUN OUTING IS Ratanga Junction which is only is 15 minutes away or just going to the beach.

BEST CHEAP AND CHEERFUL OUTING IS pan­cakes and/or ice cream on the beach­front.
WHEN MONEY'S NO OBJECT, I LIKE TO splash out at Moyo… a true African experience.

THE MOST UNUSUAL THING I SEE HERE IS how old and new blend together so well.
MY FAVOURITE WEEKEND GETAWAY IS Rochester guest House for solace, peace and tran­quil­ity.
WHEN I WANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, I look for local pro­grammes that are run­ning to help the locals.

I ♥ West Beach BECAUSE it’s vibey, mod­ern feel, close to shops and the beach, but still tran­quil and peace­ful. Even though you are so close to everything, you still feel as though you are in some remote part of the countryside.

Rochester Guest House

Rochester Guest House nestles nearby the sea­side of Blouberg. Stylishly dec­or­ated with beau­ti­ful art­work of Louis Pretorius, a local artist from Melkbosstrand. The guest house is adorned with crisp white linen and com­fort­ably dec­or­ated rooms. Rochester Guest House received its name from his­tor­ical vis­it­ors from the past and bor­ders on Rochester road and Sandown West. Its patio's face the Historical Blaauwberg Hill, where the Battle of Blaauwberg took place, approx­im­ately two hun­dred years ago. This Historical Hill is now a nature reserve.
