Miller's Thumb

Miller’s Thumb

Millers Thumb restaurant, conveniently situated in the City Bowl of Cape Town, has been delighting the senses of local and international palates since 1995. When the owners, Solly and Jane, revamped this old-style home, opting for vibrant green and orange, it was clear that Kloof Nek Street was the home of one of the most exciting eateries in the Mother City. The minute you step inside, the cosy fireplace, wooden floors and friendly waitrons’ faces are only a small hint at the world-class flavours that are about to tantalise every sense and give your taste buds the VIP treatment.

Having become renowned as a top-notch restaurant by travellers all over the world, Miller’s Thumb retains excellent service levels and a warm ambience.

Miller’s Thumb’s extensive menu focuses mainly on fresh fish, prepared in a number of ways (grilled to perfection, Moroccan, Cajun or Malay). However, that’s not to say that Solly doesn’t create a steak worth its weight in gold, prawns worth writing home about or a fabulous stir-fry infused with fresh Thai flavours. In fact, the menu is diverse enough to cater to just about any dietary preferences. Whether you’re in the mood for a salad with a unique twist, a hearty, spicy traditional Jambalaya or a decadent dessert guaranteed to be too delicious to care about calories, Miller’s Thumb will whip up the perfect dish for your delight.

Because Jane and Solly insist on the freshest fish, guests will be told each night what variety of fish is on offer. Usually, there is at least one game fish on the menu. Every one of the many local wines available on the wine list is available by the glass (even the sparkling wines), and guests are offered the option to taste any of the wines before settling on one. This ensures that you really enjoy every aspect of your culinary experience at Miller’s Thumb. It is attention to these sorts of details that make every experience here extra special.

Miller’s Thumb is situated close to the many shops, hotels and guesthouses situated in Tamboerskloof. It is a few minutes’ drive from both the V&A Waterfront and the spectacular Table Mountain and its cable car. After a day of sight-seeing, shopping and taking in the tangible buzz of Cape Town, settle down to an unforgettable meal, courtesy of the dedicated, vibrant team of Miller’s Thumb.
