Send to Kindle

What could be better that going on a bike ride, admiring phenomenal views, seeing a variety of places and enjoying sensational meals? Well you can enjoy all this and more on the Gourmet Motorcycle Tour. Although you get to experience so much more, it’s all really about the food you try along the way, so if you are after a gastronomical experience, then this is the tour for you.

About 60% of participants are couples, the average age is around 54 with the vast majority hailing from Western Europe with a predominance from the U.K. and Germany. The full tour last 11days with two ‘rest days’ built in where you will stay for two nights at the same place, however you can choose to do a 1 day, 2 day or 7 day tour as well.

Gourmet Motorcycle Tour

The first rest stop is at Addo and on the free day there is a game drive, which is recommended, so that you can see some of the “big five” in the Addo Elephant Park. Our second rest day is in Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world. There, one can either drive the magnificent, but quite challenging Swartberg pass, visit an ostrich show farm, the world famous Cango Caves or the Wild Life Park.

You a choose to enjoy your gourmet bike ride with or without a guide. If you choose to have a guide with you,, wherever possible, they lead the tour from the back but obviously, through towns and restricted places, from the front. This enables everyone to drive at their own speed, stop as often as desired to take photos (or go behind a bush) while knowing that at all time, a responsible guide is right behind you.

Gourmet Motorcycle Tour

Michelle has a huge love for all things aquatic, particularly marine life. Her main passion lies with Great White Sharks, although she is interested in all marine species and their well-being. She volunteers at the Two Oceans Aquarium in her spare time and would spend all her time by the sea or surrounded by nature if possible. After spending 7 years in the United Kingdom, she has returned back home to Cape Town to be nearer to her family and to her ‘favourite place in the world’. She enjoys camping, fishing, watching rugby and going out with her friends and family to try out new restaurants and bars.
