At one point in your life you would have heard the words Reach For A Dream Foundation and per­haps you have brushed them aside or not paid it much atten­tion. Did you know that for the last 21 years the Reach For A Dream Foundation has brought, joy, hope and heal­ing to South African chil­dren aged between 3 and 18 years? All of these chil­dren have used their dreams to fight life-threatening ill­nesses such as cystic fibrosis, mus­cu­lar dys­trophy, can­cer, leuk­aemia and kid­ney infec­tions to name but a few.

But how do they do it you may be ask­ing your­self? Reach For A Dream dis­tracts these tiny tots to young adults from the daily ritual of needles, hos­pit­als and med­ic­a­tion and offers them hope, joy and hap­pi­ness through their struggles. The nature of these ill­ness put huge pres­sures on these chil­dren and they are often in need of encour­age­ment or a magical moment that will help them regain the magic of child­hood that is so often lost to an illness.

What does every good found­a­tion need? They need sup­port and funds in order to make the lives of these ill chil­dren bet­ter. If you’re a golf enthu­si­ast or if you are just start­ing out then why not come and join the Reach For A Dream Foundation for a game of American Scramble (9 holes) at their Golf Day on Friday 12 March 2010 at the River Club in Observatory, Cape Town.

Entry will cost your R200 per per­son or if you get 5 of your mates or col­leagues, R1000 per team. This fee includes a game of golf, lunch and a gift bag on arrival (and who doesn’t like a gift bag??). Registration is from 10h00 to 10h30 and tee off begins promptly at 11h00 with a “shot­gun start”. Lunch will be served from 13h00 and make sure you stay on because there is a auc­tion from 15h00, a silent auc­tion option will also be avail­able for those who are unable to attend..

For an extra chal­lenge or two there will be a “Beat the Pro” and “Hole-in-one” put­ting com­pet­i­tions, so make sure you get some prac­tise and put your best club for­ward.
