Short & Sweet

Short & Sweet

Capetonians are in for a winter treat! Short & Sweet, London’s only weekly short film evening comes to Cape Town for an exclusive five-week special. In association with Highland Park Single Malt Whisky, Short & Sweet launches on Tuesday, 28 June at the Bay Harbour, Hout Bay (31 Harbour Road – opposite Fish on the Rocks). Doors open at 18h00. Films screened from 19h30–21h30 including interval. Entrance costs R20.

Short & Sweet is dedicated to the exhibition of short film as a critical art form in its own right. Each week you can expect to see a selection of the finest short films, music videos and short animations from around the globe: old films, new films, films from established directors to breaking talent. The intent is to inspire all who attend, expose the best talent and ultimately celebrate film.

Films are selected to take audiences on a journey: creatively, personally and emotionally. We hope to leave audiences both inspired and awestruck. Taboos are tested, perceptions rattled, and senses explored. Over the years we have been proud to witness the positive influence that Short & Sweet has had on so many people inspiring many individuals to explore their own creativity in all art forms.

Short & Sweet began as London’s only weekly short film festival on May 8th, 2006, and has run every Monday night since. Short & Sweet Weekly recently expanded to Toronto, and plans to launch in Australia, India and New York in the near future.

Short and Sweet

Celebrating both local and international film, Short & Sweet is as much about the mingling as it is about the viewing experience. Make new friends at the Cape’s hot new venue, the recently completed Bay Harbour Market in Hout Bay. Roaring fireplaces, a delightful range of food, and a fully stocked bar offering beer on tap and Highland Park Single Malt Whisky will keep you toasty in the wintry weather.

Transport Shuttles are available to transport our audience from both Long Street and Claremont. A return trip will cost R60 including your entrance ticket.

For more information you can contact Julia on +27 (0)72 298-5564.

This is will a fantastic night out, so bring your friends, bring your family but make sure you bring yourself and be a part of the magic!

Important Update (23 June 2011):
Please note there has been a change of venue. The venue has now changed and Short & Sweet will now be held at The Dream Factory: 10 Orhpan Street, the City Bowl. Which is only 2 blocks from Royale. You can find parking along Bree, Loop & New Church streets.

Tania loves to cook and create magic in the kitchen for family and friends (or even just herself). Be it finding a new recipe or making a tried and tested dish from her recipe folder - the kitchen is her sanctuary. Find her hanging out with friends round the braai or curled up on the couch reading the latest crime drama. With a spring in her step and a song in her heart you’ll find her supporting local artists in theatre, music and dance – from a hip hop competition or the latest musical on stage at Artscape in Cape Town. Enjoying all things culture she likes to share her experiences and delights with those around her.
