Summer Sunset Concerts at Kirstenbosch starting soon …

Send to Kindle

Only four more Sundays to go until summer officially starts!  We all know what signifies the start of summer (well, in my mind anyway) – it’s the first Old Mutual Summer Sunset Concerts at Kirstenbosch!

The concerts are the perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon – take a blanket and picnic and spend a few hours in the garden before heading over to the concert area or just arrive as the gates open and find a sunny spot (or a shady spot) and relax until the show begins.  The venue opens at 4pm with most of the concerts starting at 5.30pm and the venue closes at 8pm.

Ive been to a number of concerts and I never get tired of them; the setting is just too beautiful and for me the concert is just long enough to have a great afternoon (and early evening!) but you can still get home in time to be organised for the start of the new working week the next day!

Prices range from R75 to R120 for adults, depending on the performer and there is a great line-up for the 2010 / 2011 series with Just Jinger kicking off procedures on November 21st.  Unfortunately I’ll miss this one; we’ve got tickets to the premiere of the movie ‘Spud’.

The concerts line up is as follows:

21 November – Just Jinger
28 November – TKZee with Khuli Chana
5 December – Mango Groove
12 December – Freshlyground
26 December – Civil Twilight
2 January – Prime Circle
9 January – The Parlotones
16 January – Jack Parow, Heuwels Fantasties and Francois van Coke
23 January – Farryl Purkiss, Dan Patlansky, Inge Beckman
30 January – Lira with (tbc)
6 February – Isochronus and Kidofdoom
13 February – Zebra & Giraffe
20 February – Jesse Clegg
27 February – Loyiso with Chad Saaiman
6 March – Goldfish
13 March – Jamali
20 March – RJ Benjamin with (tbc)
27 March – The Cape Philharmonic Orchestra
3 April  – aKING

Don’t forget the Carols by Candelight on December 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th!  These concerts start at 8pm until 9.30pm and tickets will be available at Pick n Pay stores in the Western Cape.

Online bookings can be made or otherwise tickets go on sale on the Tuesday preceeding the concert and are available from the Visitors Centre Ticket Office only.
Tickets are available from all three entrances on the Sunday of the concert.

So there you have it – all set for summer!
