The Blue Bird Garage Market in Muizenberg

Send to Kindle

Known for her passion, drive and ability to open a beautiful boutique overnight, Kim Speer, the owner of Mythology in Kalk Bay and Constantia, and her husband, Dylan, saw a gap in the market in Muizenberg and took the courageous step in opening a night market. The Blue Bird Garage Market, located at 39 Albertyn Road, has been a success since first opening and is supported by Muizenberg locals through to inner city dwellers, parents, youngsters and lovers of fine food …

Blu Bird Garage Market

Set in an old airplane hangar, it is the perfect venue for this high-end fine food & goods market. Crafters sell beautiful goods, from fine jewellery, through to vintage clothing; hand-printed homeware; hand-thrown ceramics; art and fresh herbs, while gourmet food stalls beckon from the other side of the market space. Expect delights such as Darling beer; a wine bar; Thai curry; artisan breads and cheese; sushi; rare roast beef sarmies; wraps and much more.

With plenty of space inside the hangar, a dedicated children’s area and tables and chairs outside the back door, visitors to the market will never find it difficult to sit down and chat with friends while enjoying a meal. Kim and Dylan Speer envisioned a market where one could relax with the whole family on a Friday evening and their vision has become a fixture on the community’s calendar ever since. Due to the market’s popularity, they’ve even taken the step of introducing live music on Friday evenings and extended the market hours from 4pm until 10pm.

Blu Bird Garage Market

Ride your bicycle, skateboard, take the train, walk or drive – whichever way you choose to get to the market, make sure you get there!
