Winter Wonderland Festival at Theuniskraal

Send to Kindle

Winter is the perfect time for glühwein and a roaring fire, if this is what you’re after why not head down to the Winter Wonderland Festival at Theuniskraal Wine Estate on 28 and 29 June 2014.

This festival runs in conjunction with the annual Tulbagh Christmas in Winter –  a weekend of fun for the entire family. Located 120km outside of Cape Town take a leisurely drive into town or spend the night at one of the lovely accommodation options in Tulbagh.

Theuniskraal is offering shuttles every 30 minutes from Church Street in town to the estate. Enjoy free entry to the Tasting Centre and festival tent where you will be able to sample a variety of the wines on offer.

Make sure you try the Prestige which is a blend of Ruby Cabernet and Cabernet Sauvignon, other wines from the estate include a Bouquet Blanc, Semillon Chardonnay, Rosé and Cape Riesling.

If you prefer being a bit active before rewarding yourself with a wine tasting you can take part in the trail run on Saturday. The run offers two routes, a 15km route beginning at 09h00 (R120 entry on the day) and a shorter 7km route which begins at 09h15 and costs R100 per entry (on the day). Both routes will provide runners a varied terrain through the vineyards, a single track and adventure section.

Kids aren’t forgotten as there are tractor rides (weather permitting) and a jumping castle available. You can also browse through the arts and crafts stalls, listen to the live music and even try out the abalone which will be on sale. There is plenty of fun to be had at the Theuniskraal Winter Wonderland!

Tania loves to cook and create magic in the kitchen for family and friends (or even just herself). Be it finding a new recipe or making a tried and tested dish from her recipe folder - the kitchen is her sanctuary. Find her hanging out with friends round the braai or curled up on the couch reading the latest crime drama. With a spring in her step and a song in her heart you’ll find her supporting local artists in theatre, music and dance – from a hip hop competition or the latest musical on stage at Artscape in Cape Town. Enjoying all things culture she likes to share her experiences and delights with those around her.
