Litchi Orchard Market

The Litchi Orchard Market is located on Seaforth Avenue in the KwaZulu Natal coastal town of Umhlali and takes place on the first and third Saturday of each month between 8am and 1pm.  Currently boasting just less than 30 stallholders with products ranging from artisan breads, organic vegetables, homemade curries and Indian specialities to pancakes, dresses, nuts, preserves, German baked goods and the undisputed market favourite breakfast stall, the Litchi Market is obviously worth a visit on a Saturday morning ...

Feverishly shopping at Fever Tree Market (in Ballito)

The Fever Tree Market operates every second Sunday of the month on Claremont Farm in Ballito (KwaZulu Natal) and as the name suggests, the focus point of the market is the Fever Tree. I’ve visited the market a few times myself — its GREAT for Christmas shopping and the last market day fell on Valentines Day where plenty of  husbands and boyfriends were seen picking up last minute delectable treats for loved ones ...

On sale is fresh, organic produce and if you live in the area you can also arrange to have a basket of goods delivered right to your door.  The charge for delivery and the box of goods is on average R150 (this is delivery to Zinkwazi which is about 25 minutes drive from Ballito).  Farmers from the Natal Midlands are also in attendance at the market selling scrumptious pork sausages and huge free range eggs – perfect for the weekend fry up. Ballito on the Dolphin Coast

Ballito

Ballito

The town of Ballito is one of the Dolphin Coasts premiere Tourist Destinations and the Pearl of the KwaZulu Natal North Coast. Ballito is well known for its superb, safe beaches. For the small price of a licence, which can be purchased at the Natal Sharks Board, you can pick your own mussels off the rocks, collect oysters or bring in fresh crayfish from the Indian Ocean.

Ballito's friendly, village atmosphere is a welcome haven from the fast pace of big city life, yet it offers all modern amenities and services to holiday-makers.

The beaches are the prime attraction and Ballito's main bathing beach, Willard Beach, provides safe swimming and qualified life-guards on duty seven days a week. Lifeguards and shark nets are also provided at Clarke Bay Beach to ensure that parents have a worry-free holiday. Further south is the Ballito Tidal Pool with two different sized pools, both well maintained and home to a wide variety of sea life. Continued
