I ♥ Bloubergstrand Because...

I ♥ Bloubergstrand

I ♥ Bloubergstrand

Hi, I’m Marco from Aandvari Ocean View in Bloubergstrand.

Bloubergstrand IS BEST KNOWN FOR best known for its spectacular views of Table Mountain, its white sandy beaches and vibrant outdoor activities. And don’t forget the friendly people!

GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN on the beachfront with Table Mountain as the backdrop.

THE BEST evening PICTURES CAN BE TAKEN AT the beach with a captivating sunset over Robben Island. Not only has it been used as a prison, where former South African president Nelson Mandela spent 27 years imprisoned, but it was also a training and defense station during World War II, a hospital.

OTHER HAPPY SNAPS AT Small Bay or Big Bay. Big Bay falls within a Marine Nature Reserve and is only 20 minutes away from the Cape Town city centre and since it is so close to Melkbosstrand can also be called the start of the Cape West Coast. Continued

The Lower Deck Bistro at the Blue Peter Hotel in Bloubergstrand

Bistro at Blue Peter

Bistro at Blue Peter

One of my favorite beaches is Blaauwberg Beach. The beach was a long stretch of grey-white sand which is great to take the dog for a run on. The sea was a beautiful range of different blues, and there was a cooling breeze. There were many kite-surfers out with their brightly coloured kites diving like multi colored hawks. The view of Table Mountain across the bay is fantastic. This is a great way to work up an appetite, and I know the perfect place to satiate my hunger, the Lower Deck Bistro at the Blue Peter Hotel. Continued

Blowfish Restaurant

Blowfish Restaurant

A friend of mine recently reached the milestone of 88 years young, and I was lucky enough to be invited out to dinner with his family to celebrate his birthday at Blowfish Restaurant in Bloubergstrand. I’d heard many people raving about Blowfish, which styles itself as “one of Cape Town’s premier seafood restaurants,” and was looking forward to the evening. We arrived at the restaurant and were seated at a table next to the panoramic window, so that we had a magnificent view of Table Mountain, silhouetted across the bay, the lights of Cape Town twinkling at its base ... Bloubergstrand ...

Bloubergstrand

Bloubergstrand

It is a humbling experience watching a child have their first experience of the beach, something that I as a Capetonian often take for granted. My cousin and her 13 month old son came down to Cape Town from Johannesburg for a visit.

The day they arrived was quite a typical summer’s day, hot with a bit of wind and we decided that it would be a great opportunity to go down to the beach, after all the little guy could have his first taste (literally) of the beach sand and see the sea ... Continued
