There is no measure of luxury quite like baths with amazing views.
There’s something about luxuriating in amongst bubbles, soaking in the beauty…
And there is no shortage of mountain and sea views in South Africa – for they’re in ample supply (although not always from your bath)…
Zwahili Private Game Lodge, Limpopo
Not often you find a bath that overlooks the bushveld plains, but try this freestanding ball and claw bath for size. We especially love the way it overlooks your private plunge pool, which begs the question: which one? Don’t stop there because when it comes to romance Zwahili more than deliver, providing private dinners in an enchanting setting. All you need do is ask.
Villa Seaview, Knysna
Not many accommodation offerings can claim baths with amazing sea views, but this bath gives you a bird’s eye view of the whales when they’re in the bay. The corner bath is just part of the magic, there are also double-aspect windows and a balcony from which to soak in the views. Sigh.
Essere Lodge Guest House, Tulbagh
If I’m allowed to have favourites, then I’ve got to claim this bathroom with views out over the fynbos and the distant mountains. Set in 44 acres of woods it doesn’t come more romantic than this, particularly when you throw in large landscaped gardens, a labyrinth, walking trail by the river and an al fresco dining terrace.
Nima Lodge, Wilderness
What an incredible setting for a luxurious bath with amazing views. At Nima Lodge you can dine under the stars before luxuriating in a bath flooded with moonlight. All this without stepping off the private estate. Perfect for honeymooners!
Clifftop Exclusive Safari Lodge, Waterberg

Forest Valley Cottages, Knysna
The drama from this bathroom’s window is a blend of forest and mountain. You’re perched up above the tree line, cocooned away with only views of indigenous forest valleys and the mountains surrounding the Garden Route town of Knysna to keep you company.
Libertas Guest Farm, Hoekwil
We thought we’d add this little surprise in here. It’s not a bath. Rather this 150-year old restored farmhouse comes with a delightful outdoor shower with views to match, as well as two indoor bathrooms. The Garden Route escape, despite its country feel, is only 15 km from the village of Wilderness.
The Gorge Private Game Lodge & Spa
The exclusive, luxury villas are built on the edge of the impressive sandstone cliffs offering resplendent views of the Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve. Two thirds of the villa boasts double volume glass, ensuring an unobstructed view . The villas are equipped with an open plan quarts stone bath overlooking the edge of the cliffs, giving new meaning to “relaxing in your bath”…

The suites at Tinswalo Atlantic provide supreme comfort and privacy, and whale watching is an effortless activity at certain times of the year. Spacious en-suite bathroom, all with his and her basins as well as showers also enjoy an uninterrupted marine view…
21 Nettleton, Clifton
You won’t even mind that it’s only the drop-dead garden and mountain view you’re drinking in from this bathroom. Because you’ll get enough of the Twelve Apostles and Atlantic Ocean from the rest of your suite. Besides, don’t you love the little background dresser and antique wall clock?
