Birds of Eden

For an unforgettable experience for families, couples, tourists or researchers, Birds of Eden is the perfect place to spend the day. This is the worldโ€™s largest single dome free-flight aviary and boasts more than 220 species of birds. In total, about 3 000 birds have Birds of Eden as their idyllic home.

This stunning aviary is just 16 kilometres from Plett and includes indigenous forest, a walk-behind waterfall and an amphitheatre that seats up to 200 people. Some of the birds have been abandoned or injured and are not able to live safely in the wild. Therefore, they are being cared for within the larger, safer domain of Birds of Eden.

Robberg Nature Reserve

Nature-lovers simply have to spend time at the beautiful, untouched Robberg Nature Reserve, where views of the Indian Ocean from a bushveld brimming with fynbos leave visitors in awe of the South African scenery. There are a number of walking trails throughout the Robberg Nature Reserve, each ranging in length and difficulty. During large proportions of each year, whales and dolphins can be spotted surfing the waves and frolicking in the warm ocean waters.
