This rehabilitation centre has been designed to raise the awareness of people in the community to improve the animalsโ chances of recovery and protection in the future. Radical Raptors rescues and rehabilitates with the aim of releasing the birds back into the wild as soon as possible.
Visitors can have a close, intimate encounter with the raptors, learn about them and take magnificent photographs to keep as special memories. Show times (during which those animals that were not able to be released are showcased) are at 11h00, 13h00 and 15h00. Radical Raptors is closed on Mondays, except for public holidays and school holidays.
Birds of Eden
For an unforgettable experience for families, couples, tourists or researchers, Birds of Eden is the perfect place to spend the day. This is the worldโs largest single dome free-flight aviary and boasts more than 220 species of birds. In total, about 3 000 birds have Birds of Eden as their idyllic home.
This stunning aviary is just 16 kilometres from Plett and includes indigenous forest, a walk-behind waterfall and an amphitheatre that seats up to 200 people. Some of the birds have been abandoned or injured and are not able to live safely in the wild. Therefore, they are being cared for within the larger, safer domain of Birds of Eden.
Robberg Nature Reserve
Nature-lovers simply have to spend time at the beautiful, untouched Robberg Nature Reserve, where views of the Indian Ocean from a bushveld brimming with fynbos leave visitors in awe of the South African scenery. The local colony of Cape Fur Seals delights spectators with their funny antics and indulgent laziness in the African summer sun.
There are a number of walking trails throughout the Robberg Nature Reserve, each ranging in length and difficulty. During large proportions of each year, whales and dolphins can be spotted surfing the waves and frolicking in the warm ocean waters.
