Spoiling Your Man In Port Elizabeth

Updated Monday, 28 January 2019

Men are notoriously difficult to shop for. Spoiling your man in Port Elizabeth can be a real challenge, even when you have the best intentions and a pretty good idea of what he likes. For couples in Port Elizabeth, there are a number of options when it comes to spoiling him with a day of fun and adventure.

Ladies, remember that you may need to have a spirit of adventure and be a little innovative to make these romantic, if this gift is being given as a celebration of an anniversary, for example. But, with love and a little creativity, anything in possible!

Snorkelling

Deep-sea fishing

Algoa Bay is brimming with a fabulous variety of good catches for those that love the smell of the sea and the taste of its salty breeze on their lips. Chartering a professional deep-sea fishing boat will have your man chomping at the bit to get onto the water with his rod. Some of the favourite catches from the waters off the shores of the Friendly City include yellowtail, black steenbras, kob, geelbek, copper steenbras, marlin, dorado and tuna (including yellowfin). A deep-sea excursion is somewhat limited by the weather, so be sure to organise this outing during a moderate season.

Snorkelling

The gorgeous coastline of the Eastern Cape makes for a great snorkelling hotspot. Snorkelling is a fun option as it can be done together, enjoyed by both of you. Also, it doesn’t require too much in the way of equipment and gear. Sardinia Bay has a number of rock pools and tidal pools that are safe and graced with the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Always be aware of tides and do not stray too far from the shore.

Hiking in South Africa

Abseiling

The landscape in and around Port Elizabeth is varied, lending itself to plenty of opportunities to spend the day abseiling down the faces of cliffs and mountains of different heights. This is exciting, sure to get the adrenalin pumping for both of you. Popular abseiling spots in and around PE include Lady’s Slipper (about 40 kilometres out of Port Elizabeth) and the Masakhane Cliffs in the Baakens Valley, which runs through the town and is easily accessible.

Helicopter flips

See the beauty of the Friendly City from dizzying heights in a helicopter flip. These can be arranged for both of you to enjoy together and can last from a quick 15-minute flip to a longer exploration of the countryside. Helicopter Charter offers a number of different packages and promises a really memorable experience. Enjoy a glass of champagne in the air before descending and going for a romantic meal.

Craft Beer in Gauteng

Bridge Street Brewery

This industrial-style brewery is famous for its delicious beers, brewed on site and best enjoyed outside, where the Baakens River flows by lazily. The food is outstanding and the vibe trendy. It is not traditionally romantic, but is intimate enough for a pre-dinner date. This is also really popular amongst guys that appreciate a good brew.
