Hi, I’m Scott Langley from Durbanville, Cape Town North.
Durbanville IS BEST KNOWN FOR being a tranquil, upmarket suburb of Cape Town and for the award-winning Sauvignon Blanc produced in its Wine Valley.
GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN AT Cape Town Ostrich Ranch, on the back of an Ostrich, with Table Mountain in the background.
THE BEST Table Mountain PICTURES CAN BE TAKEN from the top of Tygerberg Nature Reserve.
OTHER HAPPY SNAPS are available all along the wine route and from any of the farms surrounding Durbanville.
WHEN THE WEATHER’S GOOD, I LIKE TO go for a mountain bike ride on the excellent single-tracks through the vineyards, starting at Meerendal Wine Estate.
WHEN THE WEATHER’S BAD, I LIKE TO shop at Tygervalley Centre or Willowbridge Lifestyle Centre.
I THINK THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT IS summer, BECAUSE the days are perfect, and the sun sets after 20h00.
MY FAVOURITE BREAKFAST SPOT IS Hillcrest Wine Estate.
FOR LUNCH, I SUGGEST The Eatery Restaurant at Durbanville Hills.
MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IS The Mount, TRY THE Sirloin Jacques – you won’t be dissapointed.
BEST LATE NIGHT SNACK FROM Starlight Diner – they’re open 24-hours a day!
MY FAVOURITE coffee SPOT IS Chocolat in Oxford Street.
FOR A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN TRY the host of hotspots in Edward Street.
IF YOU WANT TO MEET LOCALS, GO TO Albertos.
Durbanville’s BEST KEPT SECRET IS Klein Roosboom wine farm – not to be missed wine tasting and tappas on Saturday mornings.
MY FAVOURITE THING TO DO WITH FRIENDS IS The Barnyard Theatre in Willowbridge – always a fun night out.
FOR SOME LIVE MUSIC, I LIKE TO GO TO Die Boer Theatre Restaurant – exceptional!
TO RELAX AND RESTORE MY SOUL, I LIKE TO take a walk up the Tygerberg hill and take in one of the best views of Cape Town.
IF YOU’RE FEELING ADVENTUROUS, TRY the Cape Hunt and Polo Club.
MY FAVOURITE WALK IS through the Durbanville Rose Garden.
MY FAVOURITE wine SHOP IS Morgan’s in Edward Street.
MY FAVOURITE people WATCHING SPOT IS the Slow Food Market at Willowbridge Lifestyle Centre every Saturday morning.
IF YOU’RE HERE IN October, JOIN IN THE FUN AT the Seasons of Sauvignon festival – a wonderful treat of wine tasting, live music and activities at each of the wine farms in the valley.
MY FAVOURITE MUSEUM AND GALLERY IS Rust en Vrede in Wellington Road. They have an excellent Clay Museum and always seem to have art exhibits on the go at the Gallery.
MY FAVOURITE BUILDING IS Dutch Reformed Church in Durbanville, FOR ITS beautiful architechture and astounding carpentry.
TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN? A FUN OUTING IS Cool Runnings Taboggan Track.
BEST CHEAP AND CHEERFUL OUTING IS to one of the many Farmer’s Markets hosted by wine farms on Saturday mornings.
WHEN MONEY’S NO OBJECT, I LIKE TO take my wife out to dinner at Pistachio’s – really terrific, but I can’t do it every month!
THE MOST UNUSUAL THING I SEE HERE IS the Velodrome.
MY FAVOURITE WEEKEND GETAWAY IS Clara Anna Fontein Private Game Reserve.
WHEN I WANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, I support the Durbanville Childrens’ Home.
I Love Durbanville BECAUSE it’s the best of both worlds – A Country vibe with City convenience!
