I Love Three Anchor Bay Because …

Updated Wednesday, 2 January 2019

Hi, Iโ€™mย Michael Huellenhagen from Bayflowers Guest Houseย  in Three Anchor Bay, Cape Town.

THREE ANCHOR BAY IS BEST KNOWN FOR being close to everywhere you want to be. Its position between the hot spots of Green Point and Sea Point, its proximity to the V&A Waterfront, the Promenade, the park and the sea makes it a perfect venture point. Yet in the midst of it all Three Anchor Bay has preserved its charm and tranquillity.

Three Anchor Bay

THE BEST panoramic PICTURES of Three Anchor Bay and the Atlantic Seaboard CAN BE TAKEN from Signal Hill. Go early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Take a bottle of wine along and enjoy spectacular sun sets!

WHEN THE WEATHER’S GOOD, I LIKE TO stroll down to the bay and enjoy a long walk along the shore.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S BAD, I LIKE TO walk to the V&A Waterfront for some shopping or I visit the two oceans aquarium with my kids.

I THINK THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT IS summer or winter, BECAUSE rain or shine Cape Town is a year round destination.

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANS IS Willoughbyโ€™s at the V&A Waterfront for great Sushi. An all time favoured for good food and good vibes is the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock on a weekend

FOR A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN TRY Deco Dance to relive the Eighties.

IF YOU WANT TO MEET LOCALS, GO TO the public outdoor gym at Three Anchor Bay โ€“ anytime, any day.

MY FAVOURITE THING TO DO WITH FRIENDS IS is food and wine sampling in one Cape Townโ€™s many (and ever changing) quirky restaurants.

FOR SOME CULTURE, I LIKE TO GO TO the oldest movie theatre in town, the Labia.

TO RELAX AND RESTORE MY SOUL, I LIKE TO to go for a run along Promenade or read my newspaper in one of the many little cafes.

IF YOU’RE FEELING ADVENTUROUS, TRY sea kayaking or book a paragliding tandem flight and see the Atlantic Seaboard from above.

Three Anchor Bay

MY FAVOURITE DRIVE IS from Cape Town all the way down to Cape Point. You are never far from the sea and good food.

IF YOU’RE HERE IN March, JOIN IN THE FUN AT the Cape Argus Cycle Event.

MY FAVOURITE BUILDING IS the light house, especially at night.

TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN? A FUN OUTING IS Green Point Park just down the road with the best playground in Cape Town, the put put course and the Blue Train. There is also a great sea water swimming pool in Sea Point. Donโ€™t miss out on the aquarium at the V&A Waterfront. You can walk to all these places from Bayflowers Guest House.

BEST CHEAP AND CHEERFUL OUTING IS a picnic at the beach.

WHEN MONEY’S NO OBJECT, I LIKE TO take a sunset cruise on a sailing ship from the V&A Waterfront, followed by an epic dinner at Sevrugaโ€™s.

Green Point Park

THE MOST UNUSUAL THING I SEE HERE are the banks of mist coming in from the sea while the sun is still shining. And the waves breaking at the rocks on a windy day. And the whales, seals and dolphins that are coming right up to the shore.

MY FAVOURITE WEEKEND GETAWAY IS anywhere in nature, which is never far from Cape Town.

WHEN I WANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, I send my guests on a Township Tour with Laura, the most knowledgeable and passionate person in the field. The money stays in the Townships where it is most needed and goes to various projects.

I Love Three Anchor Bay BECAUSE you canโ€™t help but smile every morning you wake up in this beautiful place!
