Updated Wednesday, 26 December 2018

Hi, I’m Louise from Bettys Bay, in the Cape Overberg.

Bettys Bay IS BEST KNOWN FOR its beautiful beaches amazing mountain and pristine fynbos.

GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN anywhere in Bettys Bay with either the mountain behind you or the sea.

THE BEST penguin PICTURES CAN BE TAKEN AT Stony Point penguin colony.

Bettys Bay

OTHER HAPPY SNAPS AT Main Beach or swimming in Bass Lake.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S GOOD, I LIKE TO walk along the long stretch of Main Beach and watch the whales in whaling season and collect shells and swim in the beautiful bay.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S BAD, I LIKE TO sit inside with a warm fire and watch the stormy wind howling outside and the huge waves breaking on the rocks.

I THINK THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT IS February / March, BECAUSE you are guaranteed hot weather and its generally wind free those months and there are still the odd whale in the bay.

MY FAVOURITE BREAKFAST SPOT IS Leons down Harbour Road.

Penguin Couple

FOR LUNCH, I SUGGEST The Harold Porter National Botanical Gardens.

MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IS @ 365, TRY THE coffee it is simply divine.

BEST LATE NIGHT SNACK FROM Perrigators in Pringle Bay.

FOR A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN TRY The Barrel Pub and Grill.

IF YOU WANT TO MEET LOCALS, GO TO The Barrel.

Bettys Bay’s BEST KEPT SECRET IS its pristine beaches and there are many hidden coves along this coast which offer amazing swimming and diving spots.

Kogelberg

MY FAVOURITE THING TO DO WITH FRIENDS IS have breakfast at the botanical gardens followed by a walk up to the top waterfall, then a day spent on main beach swimming and surfing and then ending with a swim in Bass Lake to wash all the salt and sand off and then sundowners on Silver Sands beach watching the sun set.

FOR SOME LIVE MUSIC, I LIKE TO GO TO Perrigators in Pringle Bay.

TO RELAX AND RESTORE MY SOUL, I LIKE TO walk in the botanical gardens.

IF YOU’RE FEELING ADVENTUROUS, TRY sandboarding down the sand dune at the end of Silversands beach.

MY FAVOURITE HIKE IS a 4 hour hike from the Palmiet River along the mountain to the top of the waterfall and ending with a cold beer in the botanical gardens pure magic!

MY FAVOURITE art / gift SHOP IS the John the Potter gallery. You’ll find them on Clarence Drive and they have all things ceramic.

Clarence Drive

MY FAVOURITE whale watching WATCHING SPOT IS from the deck of the orange house or sitting on a large rock along that stretch of coast.

IF YOU’RE HERE IN March, JOIN IN THE FUN AT the Kleinmond Big Blues Festival.

MY FAVOURITE GALLERY IS John the Potter. CHECK OUT THE best shell collecting spot and lovely paths to walk on at Jocks Bay beach.

MY FAVOURITE BUILDING IS the thatch house in sunny seas, FOR ITS charm.

TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN? A FUN OUTING IS a day at the Kleinmond lagoon picnic in the shade on the grass swim in the lagoon, or sea kids can play on the swings and jungle gym and end it with milkshakes and chips at Sandown Bay overlooking Kleinmond Beach.

BEST CHEAP AND CHEERFUL OUTING IS free and its at any one of our beautiful beaches or to the Palmiet river for a day of swimming in the fresh water.

WHEN MONEY’S NO OBJECT, I LIKE TO pamper myself at any one of the many beauty salons and then eat out at one of the many restaurants and go shopping at john the potter and the shops down Harbour Road in Kleinmond.

Pringle Bay

THE MOST UNUSUAL THING I SEE HERE IS hidden beaches where you can spend the day without seeing another person.

MY FAVOURITE WEEKEND GETAWAY IS The Orange House Seaside Cottage.

WHEN I WANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, I take part in the activities at Mtimkulu village in Kleinmond which is all for community upliftment.

I Love Bettys Bay BECAUSE it is clean and pristine and the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve is so beautiful and untouched and the fynbos is always in bloom.  Everoyne in Bettys greets you when they pass.  The water is warm for swimming in summer and you could never be bored with a choice of countless beaches, many walks and hikes, two waterfalls in the botanical gardens, fresh crayfish to be dived in season and many restaurants and pubs small shops for unique shopping and beautiful clean air and a large expanse of dark sky at night to watch the stars with no light pollution and no noise to disturb you, it’s truly a piece of paradise to explore.
