WHEN THE WEATHER’S WINDY, I LIKE TO choose between some action sports our coastline has to offer: kite surfing and wind surfing in particular.
WHEN THE WEATHER’S SUNNY WITH NO WIND, I LIKE TO go for long walks on the beach or along the fynbos trails, or choose Stand Up Paddling or body boarding as a water sport to enjoy.
I THINK THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT IS anytime of the year, BECAUSE each season is a good time of year to visit: In summer it tends to be windy so people from around the world as well as many locals come to kite and wind-surf. During autumn the wind drops, yet the days are still warm, favouring the walks and beautiful sunsets. In winter one can still wrap up warmly and enjoy the coastal walks with your dogs, or head indoors to Glow Studio for a range of fitness and pilates classes for all levels. (Enjoy a freshly squeezed juice after your workout!) In spring the body boarding conditions are great!
MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IS Southpole Pizzaria, TRY their thin-based, crispy pizza’s with the freshest ingredients.
FOR A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN TRY nearby Blouberg and Eden on The Bay in Big Bay. A short drive takes you to some fun pubs and clubs where you’ll meet locals and tourists alike.
IF YOU WANT TO MEET LOCALS, GO TO Unwined for a sun downer and a light meal in the evenings.

MY FAVOURITE THING TO DO WITH FRIENDS IS to pack a picnic and enjoy the sunsets from the beach!
FOR SOME LIVE MUSIC, I LIKE TO GO TO Doodles in Bloubergstrand.
TO RELAX AND RESTORE MY SOUL, I LIKE TO go for long, leisurely walks along the beach, or try a pilates class at Glow Studio. I would also make a trip to the Estectica Salon for some pampering, indulgent treatments!
IF YOU’RE FEELING ADVENTUROUS, TRY out some fun windsurfing or sailing lessons across the road at the lagoon!
MY FAVOURITE WALK IS the fynbos trail nearby the beach with those beautiful views.
MY FAVOURITE bird WATCHING SPOT IS opposite the highway at Flamingo Vlei where you can watch birds in their natural habitat from inside bird hides (birds include flamingos, pelicans and a variety of other water birds).
IF YOU’RE HERE IN December, JOIN IN THE FUN AT the surfing competitions between Blouberg and Big Bay.
TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN? A FUN OUTING IS building sand castles and body boarding at the beach.
BEST CHEAP AND CHEERFUL OUTING IS a picnic on the beach during sunset.
WHEN MONEY’S NO OBJECT, I LIKE TO hire a catamaran with friends and sail along our beautiful coastline.
THE MOST UNUSUAL THING I SEE HERE ARE schools of dolphins and pods of whales during seasonal times of year.
MY FAVOURITE WEEKEND GETAWAY IS booking a room at one of the accommodation places with views of Table Mountain.
WHEN I WANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, I assist with the beach clean-up operations held during the year. A great way to network with the locals!
I Love Sunset Beach Because there is so much on offer if you are a nature lover and enjoy water sports, if you enjoy photography, if you are looking for a great place to relax and unwind, or go out and have some fun! Our quiet suburb has it all!
