Hi, I’m Lise from Lethabo Estate in Lanseria in Gauteng.
Lanseria IS BEST KNOWN FOR is best known for its airport which takes you affordably to local destinations but also into Wildest Africa. We are in The Cradle Of Humankind and a stone’s throw from the Magaliesberg and are surrounded by a wide variety of game viewing and outdoor adventure activity opportunities. We are also in a very important geographical and historical area. Lethabo is situated in the famous Rhenosterspruit Conservancy which is one of the most scenically beautiful areas in South Africa.
In ancient times the area was an inland sea and when it dried it turned into savannah grasslands and dolomitic rock areas. The savannah grasslands and three major African rivers, The Jukskei, Hennops converging into The Crocodile River, meant huge volumes of elephant and sable not to mention teeming game of all species were to be found in these valleys.
There were many fierce battles fought in The Boer War and there are interesting sites to visit like our Silver Mine. This was mined by an Englishman, who, shot by a Boer farmer in the war, returned to England to have the offending bullet removed only to discover it was made from pure silver! He returned and bought the land where he had been shot and began prospecting for silver which he found in volumes!

MY FAVOURITE bird WATCHING SPOT IS at The Fish Eagle picnic spot at Lethabo where we have spotted the elusive African Finfoot.
MY FAVOURITE MUSEUM IS Maropeng. CHECK OUT THE boat ride! Its great for kids.
MY FAVOURITE BUILDING IS Maropeng, FOR ITS design of the building. I applaud the architects for their efforts to make it blend into the magnificent landscape.
TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN? A FUN OUTING IS is Maropeng and De Wildt Cheetah Sanctuary.
BEST CHEAP AND CHEERFUL OUTING IS The Home of the Chicken Pie.
WHEN MONEY’S NO OBJECT, I LIKE TO go to the Elephant Sanctuary.
THE MOST UNUSUAL THING I SEE HERE IS wonderful wide open space so close to major cities. You are only 20 minutes from Johannesburg and Pretoria Accommodation and yet you could be a million miles away.
MY FAVOURITE WEEKEND GETAWAY IS The River Cottage at Lethabo.
WHEN I WANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, I create projects that employ people in the area.
