Mano’s in Green Point – a review

Updated Friday, 26 May 2017

I went to Mano’s in Green Point for dinner with friends on Wednesday night and I feel like I’ve been let in on Cape Towns best kept secret!  What a fantastic little haunt this is and judging by the packed interior a lot of other folk think so to!

Located at 39 Main Road, Green Point, Mano’s is open for both lunch and dinner and has cultivated an atmosphere that makes it popular with young families and city slickers.  There were four of us in our group and although seated as a six seater table we were soon shifted to a four seater (and a small one at that) because the queue of people at the door needed to be attended to.  The interior of the shop is larger than it seems from the outside and the décor is clean and light with a long bar area.

The waitresses are brilliant – making sure both water and wine never ran dry and helpful with menu choices.  The menu itself, though not extensive is unpretentious and the portions are more than adequate.  We shared a calamari starter to pick at and for mains our choices were chicken schnitzel served with a mustard sauce and salad, battered fish and chips, grilled calamari and chips and I had the most delicious chicken limone served with a choice of rice, baked potato or gem squash.  I opted for gem squash and it was most tasty.

A perfect dinner; the portions leave you feel like you’ve actually eaten a meal and I was more than happy to part with R68 for that meal.  We finished off with Kahlua coffees all round.  The bill, including tip, for two bottles of red wine, a bottle of water, one starter, four mains and the coffees was R165 each – not bad at all.

If planning a dinner out I recommend Mano’s and would suggest that you book.  This cosmopolitan café wont leave you feeling disappointed – give it a try.
