I Love Jukskei Park Because …

Updated Thursday, 4 April 2024

Hi, I’m Ros Warren from Jukskei Park, Randburg.

Jukskei Park IS BEST KNOWN FOR location, location, location … so well positioned for great venues like the Dome, Northlands Deco Park and MonteCasino yet a quiet leafy suburb where you can get a good nights sleep.

Jukskei Park

GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN AT the Lion Park just 10 minutes away. These beautiful creatures are always such a treat and for a special memory have your picture taken with a lion cub in your arms.

THE BEST scenic PICTURES CAN BE TAKEN along the Jukskei River that falls and runs through the suburb.

OTHER HAPPY SNAPS AT MonteCasino Bird Park or in the hot air balloon that gives a wonderful view of the whole area.

WHEN THE WEATHER’S GOOD, I LIKE TO walk along the river to the waterfall in the local park.

Jukskei Park

WHEN THE WEATHER’S BAD, I LIKE TO enjoy a coffee in one of the many coffee shops or go to the gym.

I THINK THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT IS from August to May, BECAUSE the weather is warmer. In winter there is still plenty to do but it does get cold.

MY FAVOURITE BREAKFAST SPOT IS The Chef and the Fat Man.

FOR LUNCH, I SUGGEST the Design Quarter – a great selection of special foodie places.

MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IS Throbbing Strawberry, TRY THE lamb chops on minted mash and vegetables – yum!

Jukskei Park

BEST LATE NIGHT SNACK FROM Nandos – open till late.

FOR A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN TRY MonteCasino; 34 restaurants, 15 cinemas and five theatres.

IF YOU WANT TO MEET LOCALS, GO TO The Gathering of the Clans; a very popular pub.

Jukskei Park’s BEST KEPT SECRET IS its proximity to some of the top entertainment areas in Johannesburg.

Jukskei Park

MY FAVOURITE THING TO DO WITH FRIENDS IS to go to the Organic Market for lovely unusual crafts, special cheeses, deli foods, veggies and wonderful whole organic food and live music while you browse through the stalls or have lunch made from the best, fresh organic produce.

FOR SOME LIVE MUSIC, I LIKE TO GO TO The Dome.

TO RELAX AND RESTORE MY SOUL, I LIKE TO have a treatment at Life Day Spa.

IF YOU’RE FEELING ADVENTUROUS, TRY paint ball games.

Jukskei Park

MY FAVOURITE WALK IS along the Jukskei River to the waterfall. A treat to have this green belt in the middle of the city.

MY FAVOURITE fish take away SHOP IS Fish Aways; crispy batter with a crunch!

MY FAVOURITE bird WATCHING SPOT IS in the garden at Pepperwood Lodge where we have a large variety of birds nesting – we even have our own spotted eagle owl that visits at night.

IF YOU’RE HERE AT the right time of the year (the date always changes), JOIN IN THE FUN AT The Good Food and Wine Show.

Jukskei Park

MY FAVOURITE GALLERY IS Norscot Manor Gallery where the South African Watercolour Society often exhibits.

TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN? A FUN OUTING IS Brightwater Commons; lots of kiddie activities and lovely big open spaces to run.

There is also a skateboard park, tenpin bowling and a lovely display of musical coloured fountains every evening. A great selection of restaurants makes sure you wont be bored for dinner!

BEST CHEAP AND CHEERFUL OUTING IS MonteCasino Bird Park.

WHEN MONEY’S NO OBJECT, I LIKE TO take in a live show and dinner – we are spoilt for choice.

Jukskei Park

THE MOST UNUSUAL THING I SEE HERE IS Lesedi Cultural Village which is a fifteen minute drive away – a real taste of South Africa.

MY FAVOURITE WEEKEND GETAWAY IS Glen Afrique which is 30 minutes away in the Magaliesburg.

Enjoy a wonderful Sunday lunch overlooking the lodge high up on a koppie with a great view of all the game grazing below. The elephants come up after lunch to be fed … such a treat for the children to see!

WHEN I WANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, I support the community policing forum that helps to keep crime under control.

I Love Jukskei Park because of its convenience and quiet, quick access to malls, restaurants, entertainment centres and business.

Yet this is a very open, countrified suburb – a bit of country right in town.
